Cookie Maw-Maw

Add Video

The day finally came, that we all have been praying for. The lord decided to make another angel on June 28th 2010. My great-grandmother has been longing for this day for many years. She never knew why, God was keeping her here. But she knew it was up to him. And he wanted her home with him now. The boys always refer to her as Cookie Maw-Maw. Everytime we went to visit her she always had a stash of cookies waiting for them. She use to keep her cookies or candy from her lunch tray at hospice, to give to the boys. Darrel and I had a hard decision to make; weather the boys should attend the funeral. We both had mixed emotions about it. It finally came down to asking the boys what they wanted to do. And it was a family agreement, they would attend their Cookie-Maw-Maw funeral. I didnt get to see her in her last couple months dying. I really didnt see her since she move so far away. I hated that she left her family, I would have love to visit her more. But it just wasnt feasible. I hate that I had so many picture of her with the boys up to almost two years ago. But I guess that is life. Even though we didnt get to see her as often as we use too, the boys always remember who Cookie Maw-Maw was. And I am thankful for that

We had alot of questions instore for us. More than we ever would have imagine. Some were cute and some were hard to explain to a 4 year old. I have to share them.

Me "Boys do you know what heaven is?"

Jackson "Yes, Heaven is where Jesus and God lives."

Me" Yes, that is good. Cookie Maw-Maw went to Heaven today."

Karson" No, mommy. Cookie Maw-Maw is at the hosptial(nursing home)"

Me: "No, honey. Cookie Maw-Maw is heaven with Jesus now. Jesus wanted her to live with him now"

Jackson now is getting pucker lips, and looks like he is about to cry. I am about to cry cause I hated having to break the news.

Jackson " Will Big Paw-Paw and big Maw-Maw still have cookies?"

Me : "Yes Honey, you will still have cookies"

Jackson" Okay good. But I am still going to miss cookie maw maw"

So on the day of the funeral, Karson was a very curious young boy looking at the casket. He kept saying "That is not Cookie Maw-Maw" "where is Cookie Maw Maw voice at" "I thought she was in heaven, but why is she here. " Why do we put her in the dirt"

We realize it is hard for them to understand that their souls go to heaven and their bodies are left here for us.

Jackson: "Mommy, to go to heaven we have cut our legs off before we can go"

Me: "No baby, we do not. Our bodies are still together"

Jackson: "well, cookie maw maw didnt have her legs"

That is when we all realize, that b/c grandma was in the casket, they only lift the top part. So Jackson never saw her legs. We thougth that was a cute moment

Me: "Okay boys, just want to make sure, you understand. We will never see cookie maw maw again."

Jackson "Oh, yes we will.

Me: " No honey, we will not.

Jackson: "when we go to Heaven we will see her"

I am glad I have all my memories I can share with the boys. I have video tapes of her singing to them, when they were first born. And I plenty of pictures to remember her by. But I know she is super excited right now. And we will never forget her!!

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N 2010

Finally our vacation had arrived. We had a blast in Myrtle Beach, SC with my MIL Sandi. It was a great vacation and the boys were awesome. We left on Monday, June 21st and we got to the hotel about 11:00 am. Which is a little early to the hotel standards check in policy. So we met Sandy at Chili's and had a quick lunch. Finally was able to check in. Of course, I have to unpack before we do anything else. The boys love to go out onto the balcony. Sandi and I went grocery shopping, while Darrel took the boys on a tour of the hotel. When we got back we notice that the boys were eyeing the ocean. So we decided to take a WALK on the ocean. The walk ended up being a playtime in the ocean. The boys had so much fun. Karson would hike up his shorts so they would not get wet. They both got soaked. Needless to say, the boys went to bed easily that night.

The boys woke up bright and early on Tuesday. They got up and put their swim trunks on. And it was time to go to the ocean. Karson and Jackson were not afraid of the ocean, which was very scary. The bigger the waves, the bigger the smiles on their faces. They were learning how to jump waves. Even though, building sandcastles was not on Darrel's or mine best architect jobs. We sure did have fun playing with the boys. After hours in the ocean it was time to hit the lazy river. My boys sure did love being lazy floating around. Time for the pool, we are now experiencing swimming without life jackets for short periods of time. They are both doing very well holding their breaths under the water. Hopefully we can do some swimming lessons soon. If you ask the boys what was their favorite time on the trip. They both will say PUTT-PUTT. Very first time for them to play putt-putt. They were excited and we only lost one ball into the water. I think we may have the next Tiger Woods on our hands!!! We also went by the Air Force Base. The boys seem to enjoy that very much too. Then afterwards we went to specialty store and the boys got their first boogie boards.

What a busy, tiring but AMAZING day we spent together. Morning time was of course at the beach and pool. But we got ready earlier, and headed out to Barefoot Landing. We walked around to different shops and waited in line at the Tiger Safari. Even though, it was only about 3 minutes, it was a great adventure we took. We got to hold an white tiger and a little monkey. We were able to take photos. And monkey was just too cute to pass up. The boys love petting the cub tiger and Darrel was able to feed a tiger with a baby bottle. After that we went to the Family Kingdom. After searching forever for a parking space, we finally got in. The boys were super stoke about riding rides. They love the bumper carts and ferris wheel. And most of all they love the roller coaster. I have a feeling we will not be able to go to amusement park next year. I believe Karson is going to be over the height requirement and Jackson will be too short. So instead of having them riding different rides, we will just avoid the situation till they are in the same height requirements.

Spending our last day at the beach and pool all day. We had lots of fun of relaxing in the water and just watching the boys play. Just a beautiful day and hoping it would never end. We searched for seashells, made more sandcastles, and jump into the pool. Of course getting a little tan never hurts either. And my mother in law decided to look a little silly too. I swear you just can't take these older folk anywhere. Maybe we should pay for her to get the lasik eye surgery.

Overall it was a great vacation. Thanks to Sandi for joining us this year, and making special memories for the boys.

Mail Man!!!

Jackson apparently believes the mail man buys him clothing. While we were at his eye dr. appt. Another patient told Jackson that she thought he was cute in his new outfit. Jackson replies with this "Thank You!! The mail man buys my clothes and brings to me" Granted, he is logically right on one part. The mail man does bring him clothes very frequently. But, only because, I order clothes online through Children's Place(they have the best clearance online!!) So when the UPS man knocks on the door. Jackson and Karson know the box and they are in love b/c they have new clothes!!!

Last T-Ball game of spring 2010

Well, we finally came to an end of the spring 2010 t-ball season. It was very exciting time to watch our little boys play t-ball for the first time. Karson made a huge improvement. He loves t-ball just gets a little bored playing in the outfield. Hopefully his attention spanned will improve when he starts preschool this fall. Karson learned how to throw the ball farther and knows what feet to plant while throwing. When Karson first started playing this spring, he had a horrible time slinging the bat. We tried everything to convince him to drop the bat. Finally, after much contemplating, Darrel and I came up with a solution. We told Karson, if he slung the bat one more time, all his toys will be thrown away. And from that moment on, he did not drop the bat, he carefully placed it on the ground. And smiled each time running to first place. This past game, one of the players dad, stood with Karson in the outfield. Eventually, Darrel had to come out there, b/c Karson was so occupied by the father's tattoo's on his arm. It was pretty funny moment for us :) Karson was asking Chris what was on his arm. And why he did that. He was amazed by the colors. Chris decided to tell Karson that he let his son Jordan color his arm with a marker. We are now waiting for Karson to ask us to color our arms.

Jackson is nothing but all smiles out on the field. He loves playing in any positions. But his favorite by far is the middle(pitcher) even though mommy gets scare with him that close to the batters. Love watching Jackson race to get the balls and throw them to first base. Its so cute to watch Jackson hit the ball, and run as fast as he can.

MY LITTLE ARTIST

The boys room needed some pictures. I figure the best picture that could go into their room, would be pictures they make. So we bought canvases and finger paint. Even though the boys share a room. Each side of the room is different colors. Both have the x-games theme. Karson's is green, orange, and brown colors. And Jackson's is black, red and white. So they each got those colors to paint with. We spent about two hours painting and they had a ball. They took their time and enjoy it. They learn when you mix certain colors together; they turn into another color. They thought that was awesome. Words of advice, when you mix red, black and white together. You get PURPLE. But Jackson loves it. So now the pictures are hanging over their beds and they are proud of their artistic ability's!!!

Mommy has eyes in the back of her head!!!

Past couple days I have been catching Karson in an lie. Well, I started today, whenever I asked him something and he lies. I say "Karson I saw you". Karson replies "oh I am sorry" I automatically go "Karson I saw you" on everything. And it always ends up with "oh, I am sorry" I love it. I hope this will continue onto those dreadful teenage years.
